Seasoned Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Tomorrow, April 12th, is known as Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day so I thought I would share this great grilled cheese sandwich recipe.  Add some vegetable soup, fresh fruit and a pickle and you have a nice lunch or quick dinner!

Seasoned Grilled Cheese Sandwich

2 slices cheese (choose your favorite)
tomato (sliced thin)
1/2 teaspoon basil or dried Italian seasoning
4 slices bread (choose your favorite)
2 T. Italian salad dressing

Seasoned Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Layer half of the the cheese, tomato and basil on a slice of bread.  Top with other slice of bread.  Using a pastry brush, brush the Italian salad dressing on the outsides of the bread slices.  Repeat.  Fire up your grill and grill the sandwiches over medium heat for a few minutes on each side, until cheese is melted.  You can cook these on your stovetop as well.

Try different cheeses to see which kind you like best.  I have made these with cheddar, American, Swiss and even provolone.  Also, be creative with your seasoning.  I like to add oregano but use whatever suits your tastebuds!

Servings:  2 sandwiches
