Barley packs a lot of nutrition in its cereal grains.  

*It is a good source of fiber, both soluble and insoluble which is important for a healthy diet .  In fact, a half cup serving of cooked barley contains 3 grams of fiber.  In comparison, brown rice contains 1.75 grams of fiber.

*It contains antioxidants and is rich in protein.


*It has plenty of vitamins and minerals such as iron, copper, magnesium, zinc, selenium and vitamins B1 and B3 to name a few.

*It is low in fat and free of cholesterol.

*It is made up of phytochemicals which may help prevent some diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

*It can help prevent gallstones, reduce the risk of asthma in childhood and benefit arthritis sufferers.
