Product Review

Oscar Mayer Carving Board Meats
I know it's been awhile since I've done a product review so I thought I would tell you about a product I tried for last night's dinner.  I received a free coupon for Oscar Mayer's Carving Board Meats.  I chose the Hickory Smoked Seasoned Pull Pork.  Their Carving Board Meats are fully cooked so you can eat them right out of the tub.  I chose to make some barbecue sauce and added it to the pork.  So, all I had to do was heat it up and serve it on some buns.  How quick and simple was that?!  I purchased the family size and for us it was enough for about 6 sandwiches (we don't pile it on as much).  For others, it may only be enough for four as suggested on their package.

I have to say that it tasted good and we enjoyed eating the pork this way.  It does say there are no artificial preservatives.  However, it does contain the following ingredients: pork, water, cultured corn sugar (that doesn't sound healthy!), contains less than 2% of sugar, salt, vinegar*, brown sugar, sodium phosphates, lemon juice, and solids (*ingredient to preserve quality).  If you are interested in calories, there are 130 calories per serving.  There is 530 mg of sodium (which is 22% DV).  As always, making your own pork is always healthier because you know what goes in it and can control the sodium, etc.  However, for a quick meal it was very convenient.

Other varieties of Oscar Mayer Carving Board Meats include turkey breast, chicken breast, ham and roast beef.  There are recipes on their website here that you can check out.  Have you tried any of them?  What did you think?  I'd love to hear about your experience!
