Health and Fitness

Parmesan cheese has all the benefits of milk but only contains low levels of  lactose  In small amounts, it may be tolerable for those with the inability to digest lactose (a sugar found in milk).  Of course, check with your physician first before trying this cheese.

Parmesan cheese is also more easily digestible due to its long ageing process.

Parmesan cheese has lots of protein, calcium and phosphorous.  Other nutritional benefits include having riboflavin, Vitamins A, B2 and 12, selenium and zinc.

Parmesan cheese does contain 428 milligrams of sodium per a one ounce serving so beware if watching your salt intake.

All in all, Parmesan cheese is considered one of the healthier cheeses to eat because a little goes a long way when it comes to flavor so you are consuming less fat.
