Salisbury Steak

This meal was part of our diet growing up and was always a favorite.  It still is a favorite in my family today.  This freezes well so make some extra for another day!

Salisbury Steak

1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck or beef
1 can (10.5 oz.) French Onion soup
1/2 cup cracker crumbs
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 Tablespoon flour
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Mix the ground chuck with 1/3 cup of  French Onion soup, cracker crumbs, egg and pepper.  Shape mixture into 8 round patties.  In a large skillet, brown patties on both sides.  Pour off fat.  In a small bowl, gradually blend water into flour until smooth.  Stir in rest of onion soup along with ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.  Pour over patties.  Cover and cook on low heat for 20 minutes or until done.  Halfway through cooking time, flip patties.  Stir sauce occasionally.

Servings:  8
