Health and Fitness

For last night's dinner, I used cumin in my recipe (Mexican Rice and Beans).  Did you know that it has been used for thousands of years in treating many disorders and diseases such as anemia, insomnia, asthma, bronchitis, the common cold, cancer, etc.? Here are some of  cumin's health benefits:

Cumin is very high in antioxidants.

Cumin is great for helping to prevent and also for treating digestive problems.

Cumin aids in absorbing nutrients in your body.

Cumin, believe it or not, helps improve memory too.

Cumin is also good for enhancing your immune system and helping to fight infections.

Cumin can increase your metabolism.

Cumin can help with blood sugar control.

Cumin is also used for helping respiratory problems.

Cumin has an abundance of iron, vitamins A and C, dietary fiber and essential oils.

Cumin has anti- fungal and anti-microbial properties as well.

  1. Great article. Good to know, I need to start incorporating more cumin in my diet. I will keep my eye out for vegetarian or health specialty dishes on this site.

  2. Thank you! Until I started doing research, I didn't realize that spices played such an important role in our diet or had such nutritional benefits.
